A Company with Purpose

Giving is Growing

Individual giving makes up two-thirds of all charitable donations. However, companies around the world are making it a mission to help others, now more than ever. In 2017 corporation giving increased 8% or equivalent to $20.7 billion.

Part of this is driven by team members, with a large percentage of them saying it is, “...imperative or very important to work where culture is supportive of giving and volunteering.” When companies give to charity, they see a boost in team morale while shining a positive light on their brand and helping their communities.

The phrase “giving back” often refers to monetary donations. However, many companies do even more by implementing eco-friendly packaging, offering volunteer time to employees, participating in food drives, and rolling out matching donation campaigns.

A Company with Purpose

At Persolvent, charity is one of our six core values. We know we are being charitable when we meet the needs of others. Whether that’s through our Volunteer Time Off policy, internal team volunteer activities or donating 10% of our profits to charitable organizations, we make it a priority to make life easier for those who may be struggling.

Communities Near and Far

While local community work is important and a great way to feel connected, a broader perspective on community enables us to make a tangible impact for our global neighbors.  In 2019 we celebrated being able to donate 1.5 million meals and provide clean water for 548 people across the world.

How Can You Help?

In a world of uncertainty and high anxiety, it can be difficult to remember all of the good things still happening in the world. We may forget that not everything needs to be put on the back burner and generosity is proven to be an instant mood-lifter.

If you are able, take some time to review your finances and support organizations like Feed My Starving Children, Habitat for Humanity, Rise Against Hunger, or others that resonate with you.

People get creative in how they find funds to donate by giving what is extra from their stimulus check or donating the amount they would normally spend on commuting or eating out.

Other ways to participate include:

• Making homemade masks for healthcare workers

• Giving blood

• Volunteering at a food shelf

• Creating care packages or meals for the elderly

• Checking-in on isolated neighbors with a call or note

Some communities have created a network for connecting local needs with volunteers, so check if yours has one. If you’d like some more ideas for local volunteer opportunities, check out VolunteerMatch.

At Persolvent, we find that charitable giving adds joy and purpose to our company and lives!
