Meet Marit: 17 Years at Persolvent

Team Member Interview

Name: Marit Fastner

Role: Director, Training and Support

Time spent at Persolvent: 17 years – A huge portion of my professional career!

What do you do at Persolvent? What would I come to you for?

I lead our Training and Support teams for PersolventEleyo, and, ClientPay. I assist with new processes, metrics, ticket escalations, and performance reviews. I help determine what’s working and what isn’t or give advice on a new process or idea.

What do you enjoy about Leadership at Persolvent?

I enjoy the interaction with team members. I love making connections with my team and coaching them along the way. It’s fulfilling being able to see them grow and support them in their career.

What are your thoughts on our quarterly review process?

I love it. It’s one of the best processes I’ve ever come across. As someone in leadership, conducting these reviews is my favorite part of each quarter. I enjoy the conversations and hearing their ideas and mentoring them. Just having the opportunity to sit down and converse with my team is appreciated.

What company value resonates with you the most?

Honesty & Integrity. I think this is a huge contributor to our company culture. I have a great team that I don’t have to micromanage because I trust they are happy and doing their best, honest work. They’re also assuming the best of everyone else. It’s a great foundation to have.

Tell us about a book that has inspired you.

As much as I love to read, I am not one to just pick a book off the shelf. I have the worst luck when I do that. I choose my books from recommendations. As for a personal favorite, I love reading biographies, specifically Barbara Walters. I have a lot of respect for her story. As for a professional favorite, I enjoy “Your Oxygen Mask First” by Kevin Lawrence. It’s focused on leadership, but also how important it is to be mindful of self-care.

Do you have a favorite charity?

As for physical goods, I try to donate as much as I can to Goodwill. Or if we have special items that are a little more difficult to “give away” we try and find a family we know who would appreciate the items. My family also supports the Union Gospel Mission – A Christian ministry dedicated to serving people who are struggling with homelessness, poverty, and addiction.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

Home! Although, despite being a homebody, I do enjoy visiting my dad in Arizona and the “Out of Africa” zoo located just outside of the Phoenix area. I would also love to visit Greece, which has always been a dream of mine.

What's something you recently saw that made you smile?

I’m usually smiling because of my pets or daughter. Above is a picture of my dog, Shoogie, trying to smile. It reminds me of a Crest commercial. Other times, I’ll just look at my daughter and smile at the young lady she is becoming.

Any hobbies you’d like to learn someday?

I would love to learn how to cook. I can bake anything, but I cannot cook. My cooking skills are limited to salads, eggs, and grilled cheese. Thankfully, my husband does majority of the cooking. We’re also really simple eaters, so I don’t necessarily have a reason to create fancy dishes.

After 15+ years at Persolvent, what do you appreciate most?

I truly appreciate the team and culture. There is always something good happening and innovative ideas to keep you driven. Everyone is so supportive and respectful; it makes me excited to come to work every day.

Last, but certainly not least, what is your favorite dessert?

Don’t get me wrong, I love my chocolate and need to have a little every day, but I cannot pass up warm rhubarb crisp with a little vanilla ice cream on top. Mmmm!
