Being the Best during a Crisis

Tough times to have your team take a Best Place to Work survey, huh?

How did we rank as a Best Place to Work when the survey was released only weeks after the pandemic stay-at-home orders took effect? Well, take a look at this recent Glassdoor review and you’ll get a team member’s perspective on the importance of care during a time of crisis.

“There are many wonderful things about Persolvent, but during this pandemic, one thing that shines bright is the way that we were able to shift to 100% remote work overnight without skipping a beat… All of us know our accountabilities and have been able to keep working towards them without in-person supervision… The leadership team has been going above and beyond to make sure that the team has been kept informed as the situation has been changing. I am looking forward to being back in the office because there is nothing like face to face interactions, but I am confident that the transition back will be just as un-disruptive as it was leaving.”

This team member highlighted the benefits of flexibility, communication, and trust. We believe consistency in these areas helps us stand out among the crowd.

Flexibility

Persolvent prioritizes health and safety for the team before any business gains first. When things started to look more unsafe, we pivoted and promptly got all our team members transitioned and set up at home. We were able to get the technology and resources required at a rapid pace.

Communication

When there is a crisis, hearing there is a plan gives the team a sense of relief and confidence. Our leadership team, Vince and Jay, have an ‘open and honest’ outlook when it comes to communication and transparency. They created a plan and shared it with the full team on a video call. The team appreciated hearing how we were facing the crisis, the impact on the business, and how the team could help. There were continued updates on a regular basis and any questions that team members had were readily answered.

Trust

For years now, we have set up clear responsibilities and scorecards for each role, so team members know exactly what they need to do. We set up regular check-ins and trust the team will get their work done. And trust is a key factor of effectively working from home.

Ready to be back together again!

Ready to be back together again!

Overall, these processes helped us continue business unaltered through a global pandemic, but they also create a foundation that enables this to be the third year in a row that we are a Best Place to Work.

The Best Places to Work Survey is more than just a once-a-year opportunity to try to get a good score. It’s a great test to see if your team feels prioritized, well-informed and trusted. It is also provides ideas on where you can continue to get better at caring for any company’s most important assets - Team members!

Cheers to health and happiness!
