Meet Team Member Cheree Omtvedt

Team Member Interview

Name: Cheree Omtvedt

Role: Business Development Specialist

Time spent at Persolvent: 13 years

Cheree - A lover of enneagrams. She is an enneagram 2 if you’re wondering.

What do you do at Persolvent? What would I come to you for?

I work specifically in Sales as a Business Development Specialist for our ClientPay product, but also dabble in Support. I started at Persolvent 13 years ago in an e-Commerce Sales role then served our Support department up until two years ago when I moved into my current role. You could come to me with questions about what the software looks like and how it works.

What would you tell a new team member on their first day?

Have fun! Persolvent has a great leadership team that understands how important it is to have a work-life balance. I’d also say don’t feel guilty if you’re running out the door and your baby pukes all over you. Tell your manager you won’t be there at 8:30am and that’s okay.

What is your biggest (work-related) challenge at the moment? How are you handling it?

My biggest challenge right now is not having “normal” interactions with other people due to COVID-19. I love my husband and kids, but I’m ready to be back in the office. I appreciate though if I’m back in the office that if I need to take a personal day, my manager is supportive.

How have you grown at Persolvent?

I think of Persolvent as my home-away-from-home. I started when I was only 19 years old. Persolvent has been there for me throughout all the celebrations and challenges in my life. When I look back on the past 13 years, I’m forever thankful that Persolvent was a constant in my life and always provided me security. As for my role, I have grown from my Support role to my current Business Development Specialist role. Although, it’s a funny story as to how I entered this position. I originally referred someone else, but the more my teammates thought about it, they questioned why I wasn’t interested. I guess it never dawned me that I would be a good fit until I was asked to “just think about it” by the President of Persolvent. And now here I am, happy as can be!

What was your first job?

My first job was as a Gymnastics coach when I was 15 years old. I would attend my own gymnastics practice after school, followed by coaching a group of children with special disabilities. Those memories will always hold a special place in my heart.

If you were stuck on an island with one food, what would it be?

Mott’s fruit snacks! My husband, Calvin, and I will sneak a couple of bags from the cupboard before heading to bed. The kids don’t know we enjoy them as midnight snacks, shh. We have to buy the big pack at Sam’s Club because our family loves them so much.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

Two places came to mind - Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and South Carolina. My husband and I traveled to Puerta Vallerta with friends and family. It was the most perfect timing for the two of us and a lot of memories were made with beautiful sunsets and drinks in hand. As for South Carolina, I stayed in a beach house with a bunch of Arbonne gals, as an earned incentive trip for reaching goals within our businesses. It was the most relaxing and refreshing trip. I spent a lot of time under the pier listening and watching the waves.

What is a hobby that you’d love to get into?

Playing the guitar... There’s something about being able to go to a bonfire and pick up a guitar that is magical. I would love to be musically inclined and believe I have a good singing voice (my kids tell me otherwise).

How do you like your eggs?

Ideally, in a quiche. But, when I have less time, I love my eggs scrambled with melted cheese and bacon bits on top. The cheese has to be sliced cheese, not shredded cheese.

Do you collect anything?

My husband and I collect old history books. Our collection so far includes a signed autobiography of Helen Keller, an autobiography of Benjamin Franklin written by Karl Van Doren, and “Up From Slavery” by Booker T. Washington.
